Biography

Marie Angelique Ignace was born in about 1775. Daughter of Sonawenhese dit St Ignace b. abt 1742 and Matriarch Dit Bomazeen Ignace Abenaquis b. abt 1760.

She married Sabael Xavier Antoine Benedict (Gill) around 1795 in Odanak, Quebec or St-Francois-du-Lac, Nicolet-Yamaska, Quebec, Canada. She and her husband had a total of Four Children together; two Sons named Joseph and Louis Elijah; and a set of Twin Daughters named Margaret and Catherine.

Marie assisted her husband in gathering and preparing medicine; leading cleansing ceremonies at the Family Sacred Springs; tending to the Gardens and Children; making Sweetgrass Baskets (the hair of our mothers) and helping to sort the minerals that Sabael gathered from the Family Mines. She passed away in 1840. Sabael laid her to rest, in the Glade where they Loved one another...

After Louis Elijah was Tricked into revealing the Location of one of the Mines at Tawas; the Properties were Confiscated Illegally by New York and Affiliates. They soon sought to drive Sabael Xavier and his Family out; and decided to Flood them Out; by building a Dam. The Dam completely Flooded the Lush Fertile Lands; including the Grave of Marie Angelique Ignace. A Lake and some Islands is all that remains... Sabael Xavier claimed to have been tormented by the never-ending sobs of his Beloveds Spirit, trapped in Mourning for her Children. It became too much for him to bear; so he moved further away. The Lake and Surrounding areas take their Names from these.

Abenaki-1 and Ignace-7 appear to represent the same person because: Clear Duplicate; however the Surname is not Abenaki, it is Ignace; as she is the Daughter of: Sonawenhese Dit St Ignace (1742) and Matriarch Dit Bomazeen Ignace Abenaquis (1760). Therefore, I propose a Merger into Ignace, rather than the Abenaki currently being used. Thank you for your consideration regarding our dear Lady of the Lake.
