Biography

James, born about 1842, was the son of James Abernethy and Jane Ferguson. He married Mary Strong in Kingston in 1872. At the time of their marriage, he was an engineer.[1]

James and his wife left Kingston and we don't know where they died. Their daughters stayed in Kingston. Mary A (Minnie) married James Wilson Kirkwood and Fred Ford and lived in Deloraine, Manitoba, Canada. Anjane married Hugh Bennett In 1894 in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. I believe Matilda married first, Charles John Dine in 1895, later, after a divorce, she married Herman C. Fessman in 1917 in Richland, Ohio and then John C. Snyder in Richland in 1928.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:
