Zur Acord was born March 25, 1825, in Gallia County, Ohio.^[1] He was the son of Job Acord and Polly Harper.

He married Sarah Ann Brown (1830-1912) on February 14, 1848 in Pickaway County, Ohio.^[2] They had 9 children with 5 living in 1900.^[3]

They made their home in Salem Twp., Delaware County, Indiana in 1860, where Zur was a Farmer, and Sarah was taking care of the home and children, Hamilton-12, Job-5, Mary J-3,and Mahala C-9 months old.^[4]

He was a Civil War Veteran, serving as a Private, in Company B, 69th Indiana Infantry.^[5]

He and Sarah, were retired from farming in 1900, were living in Washington Twp., Delaware County, Indiana.^[3]

He died on January 21, 1917, at the age of 91, in Delaware County, Indiana,^[6] and was buried in the Prairie Grove Cemetery.^[1]
