From David Grays research of SC. Adams: Silas as born in Pendelton District, His Father Charles was part of the family of Adams that settled there. Silas married Lucinda Brock in Old Buncombe County NC. (now most likely Transylvania Co.)

  • Story per Thelma Gray Adams;

author of "Descendants of Silas Adams and Wilder Gray " c. 1975. Self published. "Silas and Lucinda traveled to West Virginia then came to Willstown in Wills Valley Alabama shortly before the Cherokee Removal. They lived 3 miles south of Collinsville in the Will's Valley until the children were all about grown. They bought the farm on Black Creek after that, and were living there during the War of 1860. He sold his farm to Bill Gray for about $600. "Silas was going to the hardware store to get nails for a tenant house, walked out of the front door, down the stairs and fell dead in the yard."

Research Notes

There are some sources of a Silas Brock in North Carolina: showing interests in land in Watauga County, NC. in 1873, 10 acres on Baird Creek and 1880, 5 acres on Baird Creek, Watauga, NC. This may be another person or a purchase made speculatively if it was indeed the same person.

Silas Adams on Familysearch.org is associated both in Alabama and another family in Massachusetts so some relationships are dubious.
