In 1849 he was married to Miss Sarah E. Arnold, of Delaware County, Ohio, who preceded him to the better land February 7, 1901. In early life he was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, of which he remained a faithful member till called by the Great Head of the Church to the Church triumphant. He served the Church as a Sunday-school superintendent, class-leader, trustee and steward. His home was always open to Christian people and others who shared his hospitality. On the day of his death he was in usual health. Lively and cheerful at the close of the day, he closed his store and started home. He had gone but a few steps when he fell on the pavement. Loving hands raised him, but life had fled. The funeral services were held Saturday morning, October 11th at his residence, conducted by the writer (Rev. R. F.
