The Paducah Sun Paducah, Kentucky 14 Feb 1960, Sun Page 6 Massac County Leader Dies At Age Of 94 METROPOLIS, IL, Feb. 13-Charles S. Adkins. civic leader and prominent farmer, died today at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Althea Flannery. He .was 94 years old. He served several terms as a county commissioner and was active in many civic activities. The ground on which Massac Memorial Hospital Is situated was donated by Adkins, who was also a prominent member of the Christian Church. He had been seriously ill for the past five weeks. Surviving are three daughters. Mrs. Flannery, Mrs. Clara Dummeier and Mrs. Edna Oakes, all of Metropolis Rt. 2; a son, Charles L. Adkins of Metropolis great-grandchildren; and Brookport Rt. 1. The Miller Funeral Home Is In charge of funeral arrangements, which are incomplete.
