Lovina Jane Aiken (sometimes also known as Lavina) was born in about 1838. She was the daughter of Nelson Aiken and Clarissa Bourne. The birth year is corroborated by the 1861 census referenced below (age 23).
In 1858, she married Rockwood Jones. Rockwood was her third cousin, thanks to a common ancestor Hugh Miller. Lovina and Rockwood had three children as follows:
The 1861 Census shows Lovina and Rockwood living in Sutton Township, but with no living children (Alice had died very young)[4].
Lovina passed away in 1868 at the age of only 29 and was buried in Brock Cemetery in Glen Sutton[5][6]. Her husband re-married.
After Lovina's death, her surviving children Cora and Clark are seen living in 1871 with their grandparents Joseph and Mehitable Jones,[7] but rejoined their father once he re-married in 1872.
