Christening: 4 August 1700 Kirknewton and East Calder, Midlothian, Scotland, United Kingdom

Proclamation of Marriage: April 23 1736 John Aikman & Janet Rae both in this parish gave up their names to be proclaimed in order to Marriage laid a Crown in pond paid a Shilling to the poor.

Children: Helen (b 1727), David (b 1729), James (b 1732), Alexander (b 1734) and Margaret (b 1737)

Parents: His father was James Aikman (born about 1668) and his mother was Janet Wakenshaw (also spelled Walkinshaw, Walkingshaw, Walkenshaw and Walkenshaws). She was born about 1670 and, James and Janet were married 30 December 1692 in Mid Calder, Midlothian, Scotland. They has 3 children: James (6 Mar 1698), John (4 Aug 1700) and Agnes (21 Feb 1703).
