Biography

Marriage

Priscilla AKERS married Richard GREGORY on 30 September 1846 in Greenup County, Kentucky.

Research Note: The typed listing of the marriage bond information for this marriage lists the couple as Richard GREGORY and Cecilia KERS,[1] but this could be a transcription error. It is unknown if original record survives to check the listing.

Research Notes

Based upon the 1840 census record, Thomas Blackburn AKERS and Keziah MEAD had a female child living in their household that was within the age bracket of 15 to 20 years old.

If this was in fact their child and not someone living within the household that was not their child and if this child was born after their 1823 marriage, this female child would have been born between 1823 and 1825. The identity of this child has not been confirmed, but some secondary sources list a female child named Lynchia AKERS, but provide no further information about her. It is possible that this unnamed child found in 1840 was in fact Lynchia AKERS and she either died or married before 1850. All other children in the 1840 census record have been tentatively Identified based upon the household found in the 1850 census record.

The 1840 census with a female born in 1824 would be Priscilla, who married Richard Gregory. She lived until at least 1910 in Illinois. Nancy was born in 1837 and died in 1859 without ever marrying. There was no Lynchia. I'm updating family search as I go so census records etc. should be appropriately attached there to make things clearer.

Her brother John did have a daughter named Lynchia who was born in 1878, so I'm guessing that's where the name came from. No evidence of a Lynchia before that though.
