Biography

John Aldrich/Aldrdge was born at Braintree, MA April 2, 1644, son of George Aldrich and Catherine (Seald) Aldrich. [1] [2] [3][4]

He moved to Mendon about the same time as his father[4] which was probably about 1677 when his father sold his land in Braintree.[5]

In his father's Last Will and Testament, John was given all of his father's books, following the death of his mother.[6]

First Marriage

He married first, at Mendon, MA, Sarah Tompson[4] on June 9, 1670.[7]Sarah was the daughter of John and Sarah Thompson of Bridgewater, MA.[2][4] [8]

  2. Jacob born Dec. 27, 1677/8.>[1][2][4]

John Aldrich's 1st wife, Sarah (Tompson) Aldrich died on Feb. 25, 1678 [2]at Bridgewater.[4][8]

Second Marriage

On Oct. 31, 1678, John Aldrich married Sarah Leach.[1][4]Sarah was born on Nov. 13, 1657, at Weymouth, Massachusetts, the daughter of Giles and Anne (Nokes) Leach.[2][3][4][8][9]

Children by second wife, Sarah Leach, born at Bridgewater:[4]
  1. Peter who married Experience Cook in December of 1701. Children 1. Peter, 2. Experience, 3. Sarah.[4]
  2. John who married Elizabeth Perry.[4]
  3. Josiah who married Mary Perry. Children: 1. William, 2. Henry, 3. Josiah.[4]
  4. Sarah who married Benjamin Hayward[3][4]
  5. Benjamin was born in 1694. He married Mary Shaw, 1721.[4]

John Aldrich died about 1717 at Bridgewater, Massachusetts.[4]
