Richard Aldridge short, slender, with dark complexion (similar to later Aldridges) and VanDyke beard. Blind in old age and tended to wander off to get lost. Granddaughter Minnie Bell told story about decent from "Black Dutch," term derived from Holland being occupied by Spanish Catholic soldiers during Protestant Reformation. Aldridge family immigrated from Holland? Granddaughter Bonnie Dockery told of Rev. Richard's favorite expression being "rabbit shit." Married twice, he is reported to have lived in several NC counties (Madison, Swain, Graham); GA Rabun and Towns; TN McMinn near Mount Vernon. 1
