William bought land at the end of 1787 in NC. There was a William Alford on the tax list of Montgomery County, Virginia- not far from what was then Stokes County, NC. Witnesses for land deeds for William and Mary were Thomas and Elizabeth Alford but the connection, if any, is not known. William's will and Mary's petition for dower rights show they had 10 children. Buried Old cemetery of Shiloh Evangelical Lutheran Church. Died near the place cited.

The Estate of William Alford was probated in Stokes County North Carolina, United States in 1812 with the bond being signed on September 15, 1812 by John Alford, Christopher Soback and Thomas Padget. [2] Page 5 shows the final settlement of the Estates of William and Mary Alford as returned by the Court in Dec 1816. View Record Three suits were filed against John Alford the executor of the Estate of William Alford for debit due. The suit was filed in Wilkes County, North Carolina, United States and the Sherrif of Stokes County, North Carolina, United States was to serve John Alford the order to Appear in Court on the 1st Monday in August of 1813. There is a William Alford who received pay for service in the Revolutionary War from North Carolinia. It is not known if this is the same person [5]
