Biography

Nathan was a Friend (Quaker)

Nathan Allen, son of John III and Rachel Stout Allen, born June 4 1787 and died November 24 1820. [1] He was buried at Cane Creek Monthly Meeting Cemetery.[2]

He married Martha Cox , daughter of Thomas and Emey Cox.[3]

They were the parents of and Martha and three of the children are named in John Allen III's will:[4][5]

  1. John b Dec 20 1812, d Jan 1 1813.
  2. Ruth b Apr 26 1814
  3. Job b Oct 2 1816
  4. Miles b Mar 3 1819.

Research Notes

The family tree in Family Search is well sourced with an overview of the will. On page 13 of the will cited above a demand by the heirs of Nathan Allen was made October 1827. Lester Allen suggests that there had been some agreement about the ninety-three acres Nathan lived on with his father. "The Allen Family," Descendants of John and Amy (Cox) Allen--ByLester M. Allen.
