Biography

Rev. Samuel S. Allen was born in Columbia, Maine on December 6, 1778. He was the son of Obediah and Mary Ingersoll (Rideout) Allen.

Samuel married Lois Butler Look on March 31, 1799 in Columbia. In 1820, their residence was documented to be in Deer Isle, Hancock, Maine. Their children included Hannah b, 1799, George b. 1800, Anna Butler b. 1802, Daniel b. 1804, Samuel J. b. 1810, Margaret Louisa b. 1813, William W. b. 1818, Sarah Salley H. b. 1825.

At age 55, Samuel died in Levant, Maine on December 8, 1833. He is buried at Page Cemetery in Penobscot County, Maine.

One obit in the "Columbian Centinel" (Mass.) states: "Allen, Samuel Rev. of Deer Isle, died in Levant, Me., aged 55 (CC Dec. 28, 1833)."
