Biography

Robert Ellison (or Allison) was born in 1720, probably in Virginia. He was the son of Robert Ellison and Mary Lloyd (or Lide).[1]

At some point, he settled in Laurens County, 96 District.[1] It is unclear when this occurred, but the 96 District was formed in 1769 and Laurens County was not created until 1785.

He married first Elizabeth Scott in 1740.[1]

He married second Frances Avant, in 1766.[1]

He reportedly served as a lieutenant in Francis Marion's Brigade between 1780-81.[citation needed]

He died in 1790 in Cheraw, Laurens County, South Carolina.[1]

Research Notes

Death Date

Some give an exact death date of 5 January 1790, but this is the date he made his will. The will record does not indicate the date it was probated. The Elizabeth (Allison) Ervin bible record gives only the year of 1790 for his death.

Children

The Elizabeth (Allison) Ervin bible record lists a number of children of Robert with both of his wives, but the transcription is difficult to interpret.[1]

Allison-308 and Allison-7782 do not represent the same person because: These are the same person but both will be merged into Ellison-1115, which is also a duplicate. Correct LNAB is Ellison.
