William Allston Jr. performed Patriotic Service in South Carolina in the American Revolution.
William Allston Jr. is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A002056.
The birth date of William Allston Jr is somewhat is dispute with Find A Grave but my best guess is 1736 but maybe 1737. In 1763, he married Ann Simons and together they had 3 children. She died in 1773 and 2 years later he married Rachel Moore. Together they had 4 more children including notable, Washington Allston the portrait painter. His tombstone indicates death in 1780 but many sources show him as participating as a Captain in the Battle of Cowpens and dying of his injuries. The Battle of Cowpens was in Jan of 1781. His will mentions all the children except William who was clearly born after this William's death. If you accept that this William fought in the Battle of Cowpens and died later, then it matches with young William's birth in Sept of 1781, about 8 months after this battle. So I conclude that death was probably in 1781 and not 1780 as indicated on the tombstone. More research is required. Is this the correct tombstone? (Looks correct as his son Benjamin is buried there too.) I am using the 1781 year as the death year and leaving the Find A Grave memorial source for future biographers.

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:
