Frank was a Civil War Veteran, serving in the 13th Regiment, SC Volunteers.[11] He was captured and listed as a Rebel Deserter on February 24, 1865 by the Army of the Potomac. He was sent to Captain Potter at City Point. Records indicate that on February 27th he took the oath of allegiance and was sent to Springfield, Illinois. However Camp Butler POW Camp had been closed by that time and he was most likely sent on to Camp Douglas in Chicago, Illinois. The date of Frank's release is not known.
Frank died October 10, 1917. He was buried at New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery in New Prospect, Spartanburg County, South Carolina, USA.[12]
