Biography

Meltiah was born in 1787. She was the daughter of Joseph Amidon and Patience Chaffee. She passed away in 1830.^[1]

JOSEPH AMIDON (Henry9, Philip6, Roger1), born February 1725. He was a farmer and resided at Ashford, Conn. About 1808 he removed to Onondaga County, New York, where he died November 27, 1810. He married Patience Chaffee. She died in 1816.

CHILDREN.

65 -- Eunice, born September 13, 1762; died August 9, 1834, unmarried. 66 -- Chloe, born April 10, 1764; died June 22, 1842. She married David Thomas and had a son. Asahel Thomas.

• 67 -- Abel, born March 14, 1767.

68 -- Rhoda, born April 4, 1771; died June 22, 1845. She married Elisha Russell and their daughter Nancy married Gardner Amidon, 262. 69 -- Abner, born February 9, 1774; died October 24, 1804, unmarried.

• 70 -- Asahel, born June 17, 1776.

71-- Hannah, born October 5, 1778. She married Captain Amasa Chapman, of Ashford. Conn. They moved to Onondaga county in 1801, where she died April 14, 1851. Children --- i -- Adella, married Samuel Amidon, 238. ii -- Sabina, born August 21, 1800. She married Volney King, of Onondaga, and had four children ---Volney L., George, T. and Sabina, who married Rev. Thomas Haroun. iii -- Abner, born September 30, 1798. He was Captain in militia in 1826. From 1828 to 1858 was Justice of the Peace and member of the Legislature in 1860. He died June 18, 1873. iv -- Amasa. v -- Zina. vi -- Lois.

• 73 -- Cheney, born September 3, 1783.

74 -- Meltiah, born March 22, 1787; died April, 1830. She married Joseph Wing.
