ID: I002025 Name: William Apperson Sex: M Birth: 25 AUG 1788 in East Bend, Surrey Co., N.C. Death: AUG 1850 in Polk Co., Tn. Military Service: War of 1812 Note: [Monn.FTW]

http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=fairgrove&id=I1 29 The official mortality list of that County for that year showed that he di ed of a liver complaint after fourteen days of illness. He was a veter an of the War of 1812; his name is listed on the Norfolk Roll as William E pperson, Private, John Witcher's Company of Infantry, 5th North Carolina R egiment; discharged "360 miles from home February 22, 1815, Reason - sick. "

Upon the death of his father in 1826, William Jr. inherited half of the Ap person plantation; that part on which he then was living. He was shown the re with his family in the US Censuses of 1820, 1830 and 1840. In 1847 by P ower of Attorney to his nephew, William Henry Apperson of Stokes Co., N C, William Jr. sold his North Carolina land. However, we believe the fami ly left North Carolina shortly after the taking of the 1840 US Cens us as we find where Paulina Apperson, believed to to his daughter, was mar ried in Greene Co., MO to Methelam Bass on November 9, 1843. It may be th at his older brother, Peter Apperson, lived there, as did some of the chil dren of his brother, John Apperson, as well as some Bass families. So me of the latter went from North Carolina to Cole, Miller and Greene Co ., MO, and to Polk Co., TN. US Census records referred to above conflict ed as to the number and sex of children William Jr., and Telitha Vest Appe rson's children. Our research shows there were two girls, Pauline and Nanc y, the latter named for her Grandmother Vest, and three sons, Francis Pled ge, Richard Pearson and Thomas William, called Tom. Also in NC, TN a nd MO were several Capp or Kapp families. We think Nancy married into t he Kapp family as the US 1880 Census for Dent Co., MO showed Tom and his f amily there and living in his home was his nephew, John Kap or Kapp, age 2 3, born in TN. Some of the Appersons and Kapps now in North Carolina are r elated. Note: 4
