Biography

Philippa l' Archedekne was born circa 1386 at Elerky in Veryan, Cornwall, England.[1][2][3]

Marriage & Children

She married Sir Hugh Courtenay, Sheriff of Devonshire, son of Sir Edward de Courtenay and Emmeline Dawnay, between 29 October 1397 and 1407. They had 2 daughters:[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10]
  1. Eleanor (she is named Eleanor in her father's IPMs and her own IPMs. She is named Elizabeth in one of her mother's IPMs)
  2. Joan, wife of Sir Nicholas, Baron Carew, & of Sir Robert Vere

Death

Philippa l' Archedekne died before 16 October 1417. She was buried at Haccombe, Devonshire.[1][2][3]

Philippa, wife of Hugh Courtenay was aged 21 years at the time of her mother's death, who died on the 1 August 1407. [CIPM HIV V19] 217 Elizabeth, widow of Warin Lercedekene, knight. Writ 3 September 1407. She died on 1 August last. Eleanor wife of Walter Lucy, aged 24 years, Philippa wife of Hugh Courtenay, knight, aged 21 years and Margery wife of Thomas Arundell, aged 16 years are her daughters and heirs.
