Biography

Martin H. Arnold was born about 1810 in Kentucky. His parents are not known (see notes). ^[1]

He married Jane Burgess in 1836^[2] and their known children were Jasper, ____(dau.), William, Richard, Henrietta, Martin, Edward, Susan, Jesse and Caroline. ^[3][4]

He is last found living in Laclede County, Missouri. Death information has not been located.

Notes

Martin H. Arnold has long been assumed to be the son of James and Nancy Arnold, because he appeared in Wayne County, Tennessee in 1840 where members of the James Arnold family resided. He has been charted that way for decades, by many, including me. However, there is a Martin H. Arnold who appears in Laclede Co., Missouri later who is of the right age to be the same person. Given that a)he was born in Kentucky, and b) he did not live near other members of the James Arnold family after leaving Wayne County, he seems less likely to belong to the James Arnold couple that came from VA/GA/TN.

I am removing him as a son of James and Nancy, subject to better sourcing and DNA matching as it no longer seems a likely possibility. There is currently no known documentation for his parents.Morton-7125 19:37, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
