I could not find any evidence for Elizabeth's last name being "Richardson". If someone knows a reference please enter it here.

Biography

b ca 1744 Maryland, d ca 1820-30 Grayson Co KY

Michael appeared on List of Tithables in Loudoun Co VA as early as 1760, indicating that he was at least 16 years of age at that time. Michael had land grants in South Carolina in 1785 & 1786.

He received payment from the state of South Carolina for 3 1/2 bushels of com, a horse and saddle that were impressed for militia use on the 20th of June, 1783. He was paid a total of 23 pounds, 7 shillings and 9 pence 3 farthings: for the com 12 shillings, 3 pence; for the horse 21 pounds, 7 shillings; for the saddle 1 pound, 8 shillings, 6 pence 3 farthings. The receipt was signed by Michael ATTERBURY, 20 Jun 1785. Michael married Elizabeth. He is listed in the 1790 census in the Orangeburg District of South Carolina with five sons and five daughters. It is thought that there are two sons and three daughters whose names are not known.

1790 Census lists Michael in the Orangesburg District of South Carolina with a wife and 10 children (5 males, 2 over 16, and 5 females). He was not located on the 1800 Census, but is found on the 1810 Census in Grayson County KY with 2 young children. No will or estate probation was located. The hypothetical children shown above is based on census records and conjecture.

Comment on the merge of Atterberry-57 and Atteberry-685--Michael s place of birth and death needs to be agreed upon--I have him born in Maryland not Kentucky and died in Kentucky not South Carolina between 1820/1830. Hope this will help make the match. William R. Atteberry, Jr descendent of Richard Atteberry, Michael s brother.
