Numerous online records, all unsourced, show parents of Denson William Ashburn as William Ashburn (b. abt 1706, son of John and Esther Ashburn) and Sarah Denson (b. abt 1710), (example) both of Isle of Wight, Virginia. The Sarah Denson cited is the daughter of James Denson and Sarah Dryton, granddaughter of Quaker immigrant William Denson.

Daughter Mercum/Mareum/Mariam? was b. abt. 1780 and married John Enoch Franklin b. 1791 d. 1840. Their children: William Ashburn, James A., Noah A., Aaron J., and Mary Elizabeth.
Daughter Elizabeth A. b. Jan 9, 1778 in Surry Co., NC d. June 19, 1849 in Surry Co., NC. married William Pledge "Wag" Poindexter on April 25, 1795 in Surry/Stokes Co., NC. Children: Denson Ashburn, Sallie Frances, Dandridge, Mary, Ann, Thomas H. (Rev.), Amittie A., William Ashburn, and Sarah J.

  • F iii Amitta ASHBURN was born about 1775.
