Biography

Name

Sarah /ASHBY/ named in her father's will. The will of Thomas Ashby, of Frederick County, dated 2 Apr 1752 and proved 4 Aug 1752, makes provision for: son Thomas Ashby, 1 shilling and no other part; son Bemjamin, land at Goose Creek; son Henry, the land he lives on, except if he dies without issue, son Stephen to receive it; son Stephen to receive, after his mother's death, the land Thomas lives on, should Stephen die without issue, Henry to inherit said land; dtr Elizabeth Hardin, one shilling and no other part; Dtrs Sarah, Rose and Ann Ashby, each received one shilling (but without the notice of no other part); cousin Reuben Berry, a cow and calf; cousin Ann Berry, one cow and calf; Thomas held a mortgage to land on which John Harden lived, he makes provision for this money to be divided if Harden defaults or if it is paid up; wife Rose, receives the house and movable goods, until she dies when it will divided between Stephen and Ann, or if she remarries she is to receive her third of the estate. Thomas assigns his "dutiful loving sons Robert, John and Henry" as executors.[1]
