Biography

Mary was christened in Wood Ditton, Cambridgeshire, England on 4 April 1736[1]. She was the daughter of Benjamin Ashman, and her residence was given as Croydon-cum-Clapton, Cambridgeshire.

Research notes

Mary's brother George was christened the following year, and his mother's name was recorded as Sarah. William was christened two years later in 1739. It seems likely that these three were full siblings, the children of a Benjamin and Sarah Ashman, but identifying the correct Benjamin Ashman is hard.
