In 1920, the Ashpoles lived in their rented house at 811 High Street, Des Moines, Iowa. John Ashpole was 69, and his wife Mary E. was 65. They had two lodgers. Mary worked (occupation illegible). [9]
John Ashpole, 74, died from a variety of heart problems at Des Moines City Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa on 4 December 1924. A retired farmer, he resided with his wife Mary E. at 812 Pleasant St., Des Moines. They had lived in the city for twenty years. The informant to his death was Henry Ashpole. John was buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Clinton County, Iowa. [10]
