Writ of Partition awarded of Thomas Ashton's Estate Nov 1788 ". . .That Thomas Ashton late of the said Township and County Husbandman on or about the twentieth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty three departed this life . . . leaving a widow Rebecca, and eight children to Witt, Elizabeth, Thomas the Petitioner his eldest son, Mary, Isaac, Rachel, William, Rebecca and Joseph and also three grand children, Rebecca, Hannah and Jesse Walton, issue of Hannah another Daughter of the intestate who was married to a certain Boaz Walton and died in the lifetime of the said intestate the said Boaz surviving here and being still alive, by reason whereof and of the Acts of Assembly of Pennsylvania in such care made and provided one third part of the said Eighty two acres belonged to the said Rebecca relict of the said Thomas during her life, 2 tenth parts of the remainder 2/3 part thereof in possession to Thomas the Petitioner and one equal tenth part of the said remaining 2/3 parts thereof to every of the other sons and daughters of the said intestate respectively, and also one equal tenth part thereof to the said Boaz Walton during his life as tenant . . . . . ."
