Biography
William Ates was a Mississippian.
William Lafayette Ates was born in 1852 to Thomas Ates and Martha Sullivan. In 1860, when he was eight, he and his family lived in Covington, Mississippi.[1] In 1870 he was counted in his mother's household in Smith, Mississippi.[2]
By 1880 he was married to a girl from Georgia.[3]
He died in Mississippi in 1923.[4]
