They moved to Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, in 1907. George was an accountant with Swift & Company and by 1910 was working as cashier for a packing house.
Gladese's brother Jamie visited them in Texas when the children were small and reported that George was good to help Gladese with the babies, changing diapers and the like, but that Gladese was a constant complainer.
By the time of World War I, they had moved to Oklahoma City, where George was Assistant Superintendent for an insurance company and where they rented a house or apartment. By this time they had four sons -- the older two, George Taylor, 14, and Ralph, 13, were working as helpers for a candy company. George registered for the draft in 1917 in Oklahoma City.
Eventually they returned to Texas. In later years, George began running around with other women, and at her sons' urging, Gladese left him and got a divorce and George left Texas and moved to Florida. In a subsequent census she is reported erroneously as a widow.
