Obituary:
Death of Mrs. Edwin Eaton[5] From the Laramie (Wyo) Republican January 21st
Mrs. Eliza B. Eaton, mother of Mrs. R.E. Fitch, died quietly at the home of the latter in this city at 3:30 a.m. yesterday. Ms. Eaton who was ever a consistent, conscientious mother and helper of humanity, will be sincerely mourned by a large concourse of friends.
She was about 68 years old and was in mental physical vigor until four years ago, when the grip left her much enfeebled and since that she had a stroke of paralysis. She leaves, besides Mrs. Fitch, one daughter, Mrs. H.M. Eaton, who has devoted the past four years to the care of her mother, and two sons, Mr. E.A. Eaton, editor and manager of the Papillion Times, in Sarpy County, Nebraska, and Mr. R.A. Eaton, a reporter for the World Herald, of Omaha.
In accordance with her oft expressed desire, the remains have been taken east by Miss Mattie and R.A. Eaton for burial in a beautiful cemetery overlooking the the broad Mississippi where now lie her husband and two sons; one, Fred H. Eaton, well and favorably known to many connected with the Union Pacific railway service here.
Mrs. Eaton was the widow of the late Rev. Edwin Eaton, a former well known resident of Peru Township, this county.
We were pained to read in last week's Reflector of the death of Mrs. Eliza B. Eaton, of Wyoming territory. Her girlhood days were spent very near here, on the farm now belonging to A.T. Knight. She was a daughter of the late Timothy Austin, who was one of the pioneers of Ripley township. Eliza had many warm friends here, and though there are now but few of her early associates here who survive her yet she is remembered by those few for her lovely and noble qualities. Her kind words, deeds of charity, her christian character, are not forgotten by those who were her friends fifty years ago.
