"Sally" Calabrese, 86, of Windber, formerly of Greensburg and Johnstown, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, in Windber. Born Dec. 21, 1921, in Greensburg, she was a daughter of the late Carmel and Josephine (Mangnello) Avampato. She is survived by her husband, Joseph A. Calabrese, to whom she was married for 62 years; and two daughters, Janice A., wife of Andrew Diodato, and Marcia, wife of Dr. Christopher Sommer, both of New Jersey. Also survived by three grandsons, Drew Diodato and his wife Jennifer, Joseph P. Diodato and his wife Irene, and Christopher C. Sommer Jr.; great-granddaughters, Brittany and Drew Jennifer Diodato; great-grandsons, Benicio and Lorenzo Diodato; and stepgreat-grandson, Jacob Koerkel, all of New Jersey; sister, Josephine Restivo, of Johnstown; brother, Joseph Avampato and wife, Florence, of Greensburg; and many nieces and nephews. A graduate of Greensburg High School and Greensburg School of Cosmetology, she also attended Seton Hill College. She was a member of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. She was the past owner of Avon Beauty Salon in Greensburg, and a member of ISDA Joseph Johns Lodge 214. She was a lifetime member of Weight Watchers. She was also the past president of the Lower Yoder PTA and active for many years, receiving a life membership award from the PTA. Friends were received Monday at FRANK DUCA FUNERAL HOME, WESTMONT CHAPEL, Johnstown. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Johnstown, with the Rev. Paul E. Turnbull, VF, as celebrant. Entombment in Grandview Mausoleum. Contributions may be made to Medi-Home Health Hospice, 709 Franklin St., Suite 101, Johnstown, PA 15901, in her memory.
