Biography

Admiral Sir George Back FRS (6 November 1796 – 23 June 1878) was a British naval officer, explorer of the Canadian Arctic, naturalist and artist. He was the second son of John and Ann Back.

He married Theodosia in Q4 1846 in Marylebone^[1]

Theodosia died in Q1 1861 in Weymouth^[2]

In 1861 he was widowed, 64, Knight rear Admiral RN living in Gloucester Place Marylebone^[3]

He died in 1878 in Marylebone aged 81 ^[4]

He was buried in Kensal Green Cemetery ^[5]

Probate was granted in March 1879^[6]
