Aleithia Olive Bailey was born on 30 Nov 1887 ^[1] in Ulmarra, New South Wales, Australia as the tenth child of Andrew Bailey and Isabella Louise Fernance. She had thirteen siblings, namely: Albert Henry, Adina, William George, Lertura, Charles John, David Clarence, Ivy Serina, Amos Andrew, Leslie, Clifford Arnold, Pearl Gladys, Cecil Roy, and Zenas Howard.

When she was 23, she married Charles Barden, son of Charles Henry Barden and Fanny Brewer, on 29 Nov 1911^[2] in West Maitland, New South Wales, Australia.
