Biography

Anne was born in Bradford (in the area later, in 1726, to become known as East Bradford, then in 1850 as Groveland) in 1678[1], the third of Joseph Bailey and Abigail Trumble's eight children. She was almost certainly named after her grandmother Ann Trumbull (then Ann Swan), who had passed away just two months before Anne's birth. Anne's only living grandparent was Edna Northend.

On 10 Sept 1702, Anne married Jonas Platts, son of Jonathan Platts and Elizabeth Johnson, and their near-neighbour in (East) Bradford.[2][3] They made their home in East Bradford, just two lots east of her father's home. [4] Anne and Jonas had seven children born between 1704 and 1721, all recorded in Bradford:[5]

  1. Jonas, b. 9 Feb. 1704; m. Abigail Palmer, 19 Dec. 1732;[6] d. 27 Apr. 1766
  2. Abigail, b. 23 Mar. 1705/06; m. Ephraim Noyes, 4 Feb. 1730/31; d. 12 June 1783
  3. Elizabeth, b. 15 Sep. 1708; m. David Hopkinson, 22 Dec. 1731; d. 18 May 1794
  4. Isaac, b. 19 Mar. 1711; m. Margaret Bartlett, 10 Mar. 1736
  5. Anne, b. 15 May 1714; m1. Nathan Barker, 2 Jan. 1736; m2. Deacon Francis Swan; d. 1 Nov. 1802
  6. Ednah, b. 27 Dec. 1718; d. 29 Aug. 1736 (unm.)
  7. Hannah, b. 28 Nov. 1721; m. Eliphalet Hardy, 4 Jan. 1739; d. 7 May 1812.

Her husband Jonas signed the legacy from Anne's father in 1713.[7]

Anna became a member of Bradford Church, on 16 July 1704.[8] Then she joined the East Bradford Church in 1727.[9]

Anne passed away in 1738 at the age of 60.[10][11]
