Biography

Mary Caroline Baldock is born on September 4, 1891 in Chinguacousy Township, Peel County, Ontario, Canada the daughter of Alfred Baldock (1860-1942) and Sarah Nix (c1861-1947).

She is in the 1901 census at the age of nine living with her family on a farm in Chinguacousy Township near the village of Grahamsville. Grahamsville is at the intersection of Steeles Avenue and Airport Road in what is now the city of Brampton. Mary, or “Carrie” as she is referred to, is still with her family in the 1911 census on the family farm at the age of 19. She is now a school teacher.

Both school teachers worked 36 weeks in 1910; the older one earned $500 and the younger one earned $400.
