Biography

Captain George Ball served in the 1st Regiment of Lincoln Militia, Canada in the War of 1812

George was born in 1765. He is the son of Jacob Ball and Maria Elisabeth Mann. He passed away in 1854.[1]

On May 6, 1806, he was commissioned as an ensign in the 1st Lincoln Militia. [2]

On Jan. 3, 1809, he was promoted to lieutenant. [3]

During the War of 1812, he served as a lieutenant in the 1st Lincoln Militia and was promoted to captain.

On July 2, 1812, he was promoted to captain. [4]

George was Captain in the 1st Regiment of Lincoln Militia, stationed at Fort George on March 31, 1813, during the War of 1812.[5]

"It was to George Ball that the nephew of Sir Isaac Brock gave the General's cocked hat, which came out shortly after the death of that commander, and by their descendants is entrusted to the Historical Society."[6]
