[Note: A Nathan Ball was published to marry Dinah Fay at Westborough, Massachusetts on April 30, 1764. However on "May ye 8th 1764, On ye day above sd ye above sd Nathan Ball forbid his being published to ye above sd Dinah Fay. " Apparently the marriage did not take place. This also could be a different Nathan Ball born June 16, 1731 to James and Sarah Ball. Biography

Nathan Ball was born at Watertown, Massachusetts on February 28, 1685/6, son of James and Elizabeth (Fiske) Ball. [1]

He married Mary ( ___/?Williams) by about 1720.

Mary, wife of Nathan died at Northborough, Massachusetts on June 10, 1761, aged 73. [2]

After Mary's death, Nathan, of Northborough, married Elizabeth Reed at Groton, on March 25, 1766. [3]

Nathan Ball, son of James and Elizabeth died at Northborough on July 7, 1768, aged 72 years 4 months and 7 days. [2]

Nathan Ball's estate was administered by his widow Elizabeth Ball and Jonathan Cutting: [4]

On February 1, 1769: Jonathan Cutting and Susan Ball acknowledged receipt of their legacy from father-in-law Nathan Ball's estate from his widow Elizabeth. [4]

On December 2, 1768, widow Elizabeth Ball was granted guardianship of son Nathan, aged about 6 months and Jemina Ball aged 2 years. [5]

On May 5, 1769: The estate assessed at L 648 5s was to be paid as ordered to

  • relict widow Elizabeth Ball, during her natural life, and to the children viz:
  • Ebenezer Ball
  • Nathan Ball
  • Sarah Cutting, wife of Jonathan
  • Mary Johnson, wife of Edward
  • Susanna Ball

  • Elizabeth and Joseph Mixer, to receive L27 as her thirds

  • the other 5 children to receive L7 14s 5d each [4]

On May 8, 1783, Silas Rice, as bondsman for Joseph and Elizabeth Mixer, in their capacity as guardians to Nathan and Jemima Ball, children of Nathan Ball, deceased, indicated that the Mixter's had made 'waste' of properties of the children inherited from the estate of Nathan Ball of Northborough, deceased, and petitioned for their appearance and accounting. [5]
