Rachel Ball married Corneilus Merry on August 11, 1663 in Northampton.[1][2]
In the "History of Northfield, Mass.," by J. H. Temple and George Sheldon, there is a short genealogy of the family of Cornelius and Rachel Merry, of which the following is an exact copy:
"Cornelius Merry; from Ireland; had a grant of land at Northampton in 1663; was in the 'Falls Fight' in 1676; an engager for Newfoundland in 1671; a settler (at Northfield) in 1673 and 1685; married Rachel Ball August 11th, 1663; died before 1716." Their children were:[3]
Cornelius Merry died about 1701. In December of 1702 Rachel Merry remarried to John Baker in Hartford.[11]
Rachel likely died around 1716 when her son Cornelius and his wife Bethia are listed as selling the property of Cornelius and Rachel in Northfield.
"1716. In the course of this year, the Ralph Hutchinson heirs sell their lands to Joseph Petty of Coventry, Ct. : Cornelius Merry's heirs sell to Robert Cooper of Deerfield ; and the Joseph Parsons lot is sold to Lt. Jona. Hunt of Northampton."[3]
