Biography
Howell was born in Georgia about 1795 to John Bankston and Henrietta Coates. He married the daughter of William Hayden, Ann Hayden[1] (1799-1886) on 18 Dec 1815 in Covington, St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana. The couple had the following known children:
William Williamson Bankston was born about 1817 in Louisiana and died 23 Aug 1877, Port Vincent, Ascension Parish, Louisiana.[2][1]
George Bankston was born between 1820 and 1824.[2][1]
Howell was a charter member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church on 31 Jan 1813 in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana.
He died in St. Helena Parish, Louisiana 25 Jun 1824.[1]

July 17, 1824 - Inventory: Howell Bankston owned a claim of land in Washington Parish on SilverCreek, $125; 1 improvement and crop where the widow now resides, $243; cattle, hogs, "a horse creature," wagon, rifle gun, farming utensils, $191; total $559.25
Jan. 10, 1828 - Berlin Childress, parish Judge, convenes a family meeting at the house of Howell Bankston, deceased, for appointment of tutor to minor heirs. William Haden is grandfather of said heirs; Jeremiah Durbin, William Haden and James Haden are uncles; Ann Durbin, the mother of said heirs and widow of the deceased. She is appointed tutrix to teh minor heirs, viz Williamson, John and George. Skipwith Durbin is appointed co-tutor; William Hayden, the grandfather is under tutor. They decide that no sale be made and that mother and childrfen hold property in common. Ann Bankston shows that Howell Bankston died June 25, 1824.[1]
