Biography

In 1860, Josiah was 24 years old and living with his parents Hiram and Sally Barbee and a brother in Stanly, North Carolina. His father was a farmer, and the census did not list an occupation for Josiah, but presumably he worked on the farm with his father. ^[1]

Josiah Barbee married Sarah Smith on 1 Nov 1860 in Stanly County, North Carolina. ^[2]
