He gave his birth date as 14 April 1884 on his World War I Draft Registration Card. At the time he resided at Edgington, Greenup County, Kentucky and worked doing car repairing for the N & W Railroad in Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio. His nearest relative was Ida Barber. [2]
George Barber and Ida Moury were married 24 June 1902 in Boyd County, Kentucky. The marriage license recorded he was 19 years old and the son of George Barber and Sarah Guilky. Ida Moury was 21 years old and the daughter of Lum Moury and Zack. Stewart. [3] (Actually his wife's name was Ida Rebecca Mowery. She was born 1881 in Greenup County, Kentucky and died 20 October 1971.)
According to the 1910 census his occupation was foreman at a brick plant. [4]
