Gordon was born and grew up on a family farm & early in his adult life, he determined that farming was not his future. While I'm not sure when he started other lines of work, but early in his married life, he owned a 'Rolling Grocery Store' whereby he carried groceries to the farmers in rural areas of Bacon County. Later he owned and operated a small grocey store in Alma, later moving to St. Marys, GA where he opened another small store, which he operated until his retirement. He was a hard working, honest man that had three main loves: 1) his family, 2) his work & 3) basketball and baseball.
