Mary's father is unknown. Her mother, according to the estate papers, was married prior to her marriage to Richard Barnes. Mary is named in those papers. Detached Richard Barnes and Richard Barnes as her father. Bio states he is unknown, and the estates of Richard and Mary Barnes make it obvious that he was not the father of this Mary.
Mary Barnes and Edward Vann married about 1736.
She died about 1748 in Davidson County, Tennessee. [citation needed] We know she died prior to 1759 when her mother's estate was settled.
Her widowed husband, Edward VANN, was listed in the 1759 estate division of Richard BARNES and Mary BARNS (note: Mona TAYLOR of Harker Heights, TX, states that this Mary was the daughter of Moses ODUM). Richard and Mary BARNS evidently had several children among whom his estate was divided. One of these children was a Mary BARNES, who evidently married and had several children. She was deceased at the time of the estate division, so her portion was divided among her children. One of her daughters, Mary, had married an Edward VANN by 1759 and another daughter, Sybil, had married Abraham ODUM. [1]
Edward Vann died about 1762 in Hereford County, North Carolina, and his last Will had executors Mary and William VANN. [2]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:
It seems there may be different people being confused here. Her bio states that she died in 1748 in Davidson, Tennessee and that her husband died in 1762 in Hereford, NC. But why would she have been in Tennessee? And the Edward to whom she is attached as wife died in 1770 in Bertie, NC and left a will naming his wife Mary (still alive)...
