Hi Shelley,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one or more which best fit your research focus. Review the project pages for profile guidelines and to learn how to collaborate with the project members.

I'm here to help. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

Hi ,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hello Loretta,

Thank you for joining WikiTree and signing the Honor Code. As a WikiTree Mentor I am available to answer any questions or help solve any issues you may be having.

How To Use WikiTree is a good starting point, and the Help Index is an important place to find out how to do most tasks.

Do you have Royal Ancestors? They are already here on Wikitree! Rather than create duplicate profiles for them, please contact the EuroAristo Project to discuss connecting your family line to their profiles.

Feel free to ask me via my profile page if you have any questions.

If their names are entered the same, they will show up as duplicates on the Gedcom report and you can skip them on the final import :D

p.s. I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to great info about adding a GEDCOM to WikiTree that you might find helpful. Also, 'Before you import a GEDCOM'

Because WikiTree has only one profile for each person, the further back you go in your ancestry, the more likely cousins will find you and help out.

Sources are very important, so please be sure to include the sources used, on each profile you add.

It is a good idea to enter a few of your ancestors manually, to get used to how WikiTree works. Then, you could upload a small portion of your tree, with a gedcom, to see how that works. There is always editing needed after a Gedcom import, so fewer profiles makes the task easier.

Hi Marjarie, You are now a member of the WikiTree Community - We are building One Collaborative Tree, with just one profile per person, so it is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add Profiles to WikiTree.

If you have pre-1700's ancestors to add, please read our Pre-1700 profiles info. Also, be sure to include a list of the sources used, on each profile you add.

If you need help getting started, view this introductory WikiTree video. Also, check out the Help Index and the G2G forum. - Good luck growing your branches -

Hi my name is Marjarie Mccloud (Barnhart) I have been doing family history research since I was 10 years old. I can usually find info others can't. I always try to confirm info before I post it. I'm willing to help anyone out that I can. I will volunteer and help out I have over 26,000 names in my family history so far. I'm willing to share this information with others. I agree with your mission I believe helping others makes it easier to verify information so you are not researching an area that's not related. If you need any help please let me know my email address i listed and I check it often. Thank-you for your time.
