Biography

Israel Bartlett; born Apr 5, 1737^[1][2] at Attleboro, Bristol, Massachusetts;

m. Caroline Balcolm Nov 12, 1781 at Massachusetts; married Caroline Balcolm Nov 12, 1782 at Cumberland, Providence, Rhode Island;^[3]

Israel Bartlett died about 1804 at Bartlett Island, Mount Desert, Hancock, Maine; his estate was probated Oct 7, 1805^[4]. He left no will and his property was divided among his daughters. Those mentioned in order of birth were Nancy (Bartlett) Higgins, Polly (Bartlett) Allen and Phildelphia Bartlett.

Israel was guardian of his mother, who, after his father's death, became delirious. He asked the council to relieve him. 1753, as he was going eastward. He removed to Mt. Desert, Maine, probably about 1785. He was a soldier in the French and Indian War and served as a Lieutenant and Captain in the Revolutionary War.^[5] Israel Bartlett resided at Pretty Marsh, Mount Desert, Hancock, Maine. ^[6]

Caroline Balcolm was born circa 1755. She died after 1831 at Bartlett Island, Mount Desert, Hancock, Maine.
