Nathan was born on 23 Oct 1734. He is the son of Ebenezer Batchelder and Dorothy Boynton. He moved with his father to the new town of Gilmanton, in present day Belknap county, New Hampshire. Nathan served for New Hamoshire as an officer (a Major), during the American Revolutionary War, under the command of Colonel Thomas Stickney. ^[1]

He and Dorothy were admitted to the Kingston Church Jul 18, 1736, he was an original member of the East Kingston church Jul 17, 1739, and was elected deacon in Mar 1, 1759. He married at East Kingston Feb 1, 1732/3, Dorothy Boynton, dau. of William Boynton and Joanna (Stevens), who was b. in Newbury, Mass. Dec 12, 1715, and was living at date of her husband's will. ^[5]
