DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Martha by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Martha:
I disconnected Martha b. 1790s, md. Leftwich, moved to Tennessee from the South Carolina Bates family, whose daughter Martha, b. 1764, md. William Burt, moved to Mississippi. Earlier trees may have been correct, but conflated at some point, confusing the Virginia with the South Carolina Bates families. Mother would have been too old to have this Martha in 1790/1794.
