Elijah Battles was born about 1845 in Tennessee, United States.[1][2] His parents were William and Martha Battles.[1]
In the 1850 US census, Eliza Battles (6) was living in Wayne, Tennessee, with parents William Battles (46) and Martha Battles (41), and siblings James (17), Heartwell (16), Mary (14), Nancy (12), Henry (10), Sarah (8) and Elisabeth (3), and grandmother Mary Battles (82).[1]
In the 1870 US census, Elijah Battles (25) was living in Wayne, Tennessee, with wife Sarah A Battles (21) and children Mary Jane (3) and William (2), and with housekeeping assistant Mary J Matthews (56). He was a farmer.[2]
He passed away in 1929. He was buried at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Johnson City, Washington County, Tennessee, United States.[3]
