Winifred (Beale) Carter was born in Virginia.

Winifred Travers Beale was born at Chestnut Hill Plantation, Farnham, Richmond County, Virginia, a daughter of Captain William Beale and Ann Harwar. In 1756, Winifred married Robert Wormeley Carter of Sabine Hall, in Richmond County. Children of Winifred and Robert are:

  1. George Carter (1756, Sabine Hall, Warsaw, Richmond Co., Virginia. Death: 20 Mar 1802 in Williamsburg, Virginia. Married Sarah "Sally" Carter, daughter of Edward Hill Carter and Sarah Champe (1 May 1767, Blenheim, Albemarle County, Virginia.-27 Apr 1814, Fredericksburg City, Virginia.
  2. Landon Carter (16 Jun 1757, Sabine Hall, Warsaw, Richmond County, Virginia. Death: 29 Aug 1820 in Sabine Hall, Warsaw, Richmond County, Virginia. Burial: Sabine Hall, Warsaw, Richmond County, Virginia, 5 Feb 1780: Married Miss Catherine Tayloe (8 children) was married to Mr. Carter 5 Feb 1780. Mrs. Carter departed this life 22 Dec 1798.
  3. Elizabeth "Betty" Carter (3 Sep 1759), married (1) Peter Presley Thornton on 4 May 1778 in Richmond Co., VA. Married (2) Landon Thornton Carter on 16 Mar 1782, Richmond Co., VA, son of Charles Carter and Anne "Nannie" Byrd. (7 children)
  4. Frances "Fanny" Carter (abt. 1760-abt. Dec 1850). Married Thomas Ludwell Lee, Jr. (8 children).
  5. Anne "Lucy" Beale Carter (abt. 1766). Married Charles B. Carter (1766-1807), son of Charles Carter (1732-1806) and Anne Butler Moore, in 1796.

Winifred (Beale) Carter passed away in 1794 at Sabine Hall, Richmond, Virginia and is buried in the Carter Family Cemetery at Sabine Hall Plantation, in Warsaw. There is a photograph of Sabine Hall on her Find A Grave memorial. [1]
