Phillip Beardsley was born about 1934 in Kansas, son of Dilward Torrance Beardsley (1901 - 1988) and Gloren Nancy (Huffman) Beardsley (1903 - 1992).
His siblings were:

- Richard Huffman Beardsley (1925 - 1991)
- Jack Dilward Beardsley (1930 - 2020)

- Paternal relationship is confirmed through Y-chromosome DNA test results from SMGF and FTDNA. John Beardsley, FTDNA kit # B2385, and his 9th cousin 1x removed, Phillip Beardsley, FTDNA kit # N10266, match at a Genetic Distance of 0 on 43 markers, thereby confirming their direct paternal lines back to their most-recent common ancestor who is William Beardsley, the 9x great grandfather of John Beardsley and 8x great grandfather of Phillip Beardsley. Philip tested 43 markers at SMGF, then transferred his results to FTDNA. Both Beardsley-386 and Beardsley-477 share a recLOH mutation affecting markers (dys459a, dys459b, dys464a, dys464b, dys464c, dys464d, cdya, and cdyb).
